As I filmmaker (sound engineer, more specifically), I recommend many films. I recommend one without hesitation and it is Guillermo del Toro's (Mimic, The Devil's Backbone, Blade 2) Pan's Labyrinth. Like Letters from Iwo Jima, it is definitely one of the best films of the year. I think it has one of the best endings of the year. It is beautiful, brutal, violent, and most of all, original.
