Damn, haven't updated this blog in a while. Watched a shitload of movies:

Eastern Promises: Fucking goddamn brilliant and it may be the best film of 2007 beside Ratatouille. If Viggo Mortensen doesn't win an academy award for his performance or even get a nomination I will NEVER watch the academy awards again. Vincent Cassel and Armin Mueller-Stahl are also brilliant in this. Naomi Watts stars as Anna, a midwife at a hospital. She gives her best despite a truncated role but the star here is Mortensen. From his impeccable Russian accent to the way he walks, he moves, everything....he wasn't Viggo anymore, I believed him to be goddamn Nikolai. AND OH MAN.....the naked fight scene, this may be one of the most brutal and finely choreographed fight scenes ever committed to celluloid (if you wanted to see Viggo's dick, watch this film). Directed by David Cronenberg (A History of Violence) and written by Steven Knight (Dirty Pretty Things), it presents us the underworld of the Russian mafia brilliantly.

The Brave One: I thought this was gonna be "Death Wish with a chick" but it's more complex than that. Apart from the predictable storyline, Jodie Foster and Terence Howard lift the material above the average. While the characters are great, again, I have to stress that the plot and story are not. The film dragged at times and many scenes could have been taken out. It's a great matinee but you're wasting your money if you're paying at night.

3:10 to Yuma: Watched this three weeks ago and man, what a great film. It's a great remake with awesome action sequences, great performances (Russell Crowe and Christian Bale are fucking great), and a remarkable ending. One of the best films of 2007 but there's no thing that bugged me in the movie, it's Luke Wilson. He's uncredited as a torturer but he seemed to be so fucking miscast.

School started almost a month ago and here's the rundown:
Philosophy of Love: A great class with a great, soft-spoken teacher. In fact, he's so soft spoken that everyone told him to repeat many things about the syllabus because he's speaks so quietly. I feel so bad today because I overslept and missed the class for today.

Audio for Visual Media II: This class is also great but the professor talks......so....g..o..d..d..a..m..n.....slowly and he always closes his eyes when he talks. Aside from the fact, he looks like Santa Claus but only 5 feet and 300 lbs, he's funny at times but he seems so intimidating at others.

Writing and Rhetoric II: The teacher is very, very sweet and nice (her name is Becca) and the assignments don't seem to be really hard. There was this girl named Kelly (or is it Kelli) in my class and I had a crush on her the first time I saw her. She looks like a model from America's Next Stop Model and I was pretty shocked that she confessed that she was a lesbian in front of the entire class last Saturday. I was flabbergasted because she seemed so girly with only a smidge of tomboy. Hmmm....no wonder she talked to me a lot on the first day.....none of the girls talk to me in the Philosophy of Love class and the Love class is 95% chicks.
