My one word review for Indy 4: disappointment.
As anyone who reads this blog knows that I really, really hated the Coldplay X&Y album. They recently released "Violet Hill" as a single and again I was disappointed. It was Coldplay trying to sound like U2. Coldplay released another single off of their 4th album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends, titled "Viva la Vida" and let me tell you, it is on par with "The Scientist" (still their absolute masterpiece IMO) from their 2nd album. It is mothereffing brilliant I'm telling you!
I never thought that this semester would be so enjoyable. I enjoyed every class I was in this semester: Editing I, Audio for Visual Media II, Location Sound Recording, and Mystical Consciousness. The classes I most enjoyed were Location Sound Recording and Mystical Consciousness and Bill Hayashi has to be the nicest and kindest teacher I have ever met. He speaks so softly because he has "a gentle soul" and "why should I raise my voice when you could hear me?" I loved Editing I because Maura Smith is a sweet old lady who just loves her students and editing film. It never felt that she was talking down to her students, she treated them as equals. AVM II has to be one of most challenging classes but once I got to know Jim Moore (this is my 2nd class with him), he's a pretty funny guy albeit a little intimidating. Tony Sipsusich has to be the best audio teacher at Columbia. Like the best teachers in Columbia, he never talks down to his students and when someone speaks he listens. I could never have asked for a better teacher.
